No New CNG Autos after the Year 2025
Stopping the registration for new CNG autos will begin on August 15, 2025. The use of electric autos will be authorized, while CNG autos that are more than ten years old will either be scrapped or converted to electric.
Freight Vehicles Gradually Going Electric
After August 15, 2025, there is going to be no registration permitted for any new diesel, petrol, or CNG freight three-wheelers. This shall prompt e-commerce and logistics entities to transition into electric cargo vehicles.
All Garbage Trucks Go Electric by 2027
Electrification of all garbage trucks, including those of MCD, NDMC, and Delhi Jal Board, shall be completed by 31st December 2027, thereby resulting in lower pollution from municipal operations.
Electric Buses for Public Transport
DTC and DIMTS shall purchase only electric buses for city operation. Inter-state buses, however, shall continue adhering to Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) emission norms.
Third Car in House Must Be Electric
Where households will have two cars already, the next car must be electric. This provision shall come into force after the policy is formally notified.
EV Information via WhatsApp
The residents of Delhi will shortly be able to receive real-time info through WhatsApp on EVs-related matters such as charging station locations, subsidies, and guidelines, thus simplifying the transition to EVs.
Boosting Charging Infrastructure
To keep pace with the growing population of EVs, the Government plans to install more charging stations across Delhi so that all EVs will be accessible.
Potential Changes Before Final Approval
The draft policy is subject to further revision, and a few contentious recommendations—such as a two-wheeler ban—could be altered before formal cabinet approval.
