And the famous Reserve Bank of India has always announced the 50 rupee note. The new note is going to come shortly, including the signature of the new Governor Sanjay Malhotra, who took charge in December 2024, succeeding Shaktikanta Das.
New 50 Rupee Note
The forthcoming 50 rupee note would continue with the same design as that of the present Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. All the old 50 rupee notes will also continue to be legal tender so that there is no disruption in daily transactions.

The introduction of the new note is a routine measure undertaken by the RBI in its currency management strategies. The public has no qualms because those old 50 rupee notes will still be as valid.
Update on Rs 2000 notes withdrawal
In this regard, RBI has reported that 98.15% of the Rs 2000 notes had already returned to the banking system till 31 January 2025, however, Rs 6,577 crore worth of notes are still lying outside the banking system. In May 2023, this withdrawal action was initiated by the central bank under the Clean Note Policy.

This issuance of a new Rs 50 note by the RBI is in line with maintaining the efficient and safe currency system. Though the new note will come into existence, the old ones will remain valid, ensuring the public moves into the new regime with ease.
