LPG Price: Government has made LPG cylinder expensive, Check New Price

The government has thrown another blow at the common man with the exorbitant increases of the prices of LPG cylinders yet again. Just weeks after the Union Budget, the temporary relief that was given to consumers has been taken away.

From Saturday, March 1, 2025, Indian Oil has increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders leaving the dwellers and businesses with higher expenses. However, the prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinders are fixed; otherwise, they do give some relief to households.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Surge

According to the latest update, the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs. 6 across the country’s major metropolitan cities. Here are the newly announced rates:

  • Delhi: Hiked to Rs. 1,803 from Rs. 1,797 in February.
  • Kolkata: Rate before- Rs. 1,907, Present as of now- Rs. 1,913.
  • Mumbai: New Revised price is Rs. 1,755.50 in comparison to the Rs. 1,749.50 price of February.
  • Chennai: Its price has increased to Rs. 1,918.

This change in trend has shocked small industries as they have a huge dependence on commercial LPG cylinders for their operations.

Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain stable

The changes saw commercial rates staying high, but they could not affect the 14 kg of LPG cylinders, which remained constant, much to the relief of households. Here are the rates at some key cities:

  • Delhi: Rs. 803
  • Lucknow: Rs. 840.50
  • Kolkata: Rs. 829
  • Mumbai: Rs. 802.50
  • Chennai: Rs. 818.50

This was a minimum comfort for families still struggling against the tide with increasing living costs.

Lowest March Hike for Years

Interestingly, out of all increases, this is the least one to happen in March this year. Last year, in March 2024, the prices increased by a monumental Rs. 26 in just one jump. This time, Rs. 6 has succeeded in eliminating Rs. 7 relief given in February, leaving no reason for consumers to celebrate.
