New Changes in Claim Settlement by EPFO

The EPFO, a social security scheme for the private sector, allows its members to withdraw the PF balance under certain circumstances. Earlier, withdrawals were mostly post-retirement, but for employment now, advance withdrawals are permitted for urgent financial needs.

So far, eight major changes have been made by the EPFO to make its services faster and more transparent. Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, will communicate these changes in the Lok Sabha.

8 EPFO Reformations to Simplify the Process of Withdrawal from PF

  1. Auto Mode Processing to Expedite Claim
It has increased the auto-claims processing limit up to ₹1 lakh covering medical treatment, housing and education and marriage expenses. Nearly 60% advance claims are automatically cleared by manual intervention within 3 days.
  2. Easified Member Details Correction
Now no more lines and filing endless paperwork! Aadhaar-verified UAN holders can easily update their records online instead of stepping into an EPFO office. Spectacularly, 96% of corrections are currently done without employer intervention.
  3. No Employer Attestation for Aadhaar Link UAN
Great news for those switching jobs! The UAN attached to Aadhaar no longer requires an employer attestation for the transfer claims. A mere 10% of cases now require dual verification.
  4. No Cheque Leaf Requirement for KYC-Compliant Accounts
EPFO is going to eliminate the KYC requirement for all UANs to be made mandatory. Just as normal, the requesting service is now without paperwork and much quicker.
  5. Front-Loading Eligibility Check to Eliminate Rejects
New real-time validation checks would help minimize rejections and delays because they allow you to apply for claims only deemed eligible for your benefit.
  6. Unified IT System for Process Streamlining
The centralized CITES 2.01 system permits digital integration of all member data, leading to faster and error-free claim settlements.
  7. De-linking Fraudulent/Incorrect Accounts
Are you facing problems with wrongly linked accounts? This can be handled by EPFO’s facility of self-de-linking such accounts. As per EPFO data, more than 55,000 members have been able to correct their records since January 2025.
  8. 99.31% of Claims Have Gone Online, Meaning No Visit to the Office
Those days are over when you had to stand in long queues! The evidence now stands at more than 7.14 crore in online claims processed in 2024-25, with digital being the way forward.
