What is the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship?
The American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional international student every year to enroll in full-time undergraduate education at American University in Washington D.C.
This scholarship fully covers:
- Full tuition fees
- Room and board (on-campus accommodation)
However, it does not cover non-billable expenses, such as:
- Health insurance
- Books and supplies
- Travel costs (airfare)
- Personal and miscellaneous expenses (approximately $4,000 Annually)

Eligibility Criteria of American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship

- Apply for the Fall semester via the Regular Decision cycle
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0 in grades 11 and 12

- Submit a Certificate of Finances showing at least $4,000 USD in available funds
- Provide proof of English proficiency through one of the following tests:

- Submit a bank letter and AU Certification of Finances (CFIS) form, showing at least $4,000 USD.

Selection Process
The selection for this competitive scholarship is conducted by the admissions committee at American University. Finalists are:

Priority Deadline: Applicants who submit all forms and documents before December 15 will be given preference.
Even if you’re not selected for the full scholarship, you may still be eligible for partial merit-based awards from the university.
